Hyun Kim, Jiyeon Hwang, and Seokho Park form a collaborative research team driven by the belief that music fosters emotional connection and human interaction across cultures.
Inspired by the global influence of K-pop, the team aims to spotlight a rarely explored yet deeply expressive genre: Korean art songs (Gagok).
While K-pop continues to grow worldwide, reaching 9.2 billion on-demand streams in the U.S. alone in 2023, Korean art songs remain underrepresented. Their poetic beauty and artistic depth have not been widely recognized, due in part to limited exposure and a lack of accessible educational content. This project addresses these challenges by developing new learning tools, refining Korean diction techniques, and promoting live performances.
